Chapter 1
Once upon a time there was a
blacksmith named John. His son, David,
was 13. David liked to create little
statues with anything he could use with the blacksmith machinery. He liked creating griffens and his own
mythical animals. His favorite, that he
made, was his own mythical animal. It
had long twisty horns, and had wings. It
had a rattlesnakes tail, and it had feathers mixed with fur. One side feathers, the other side fur. It had elk legs, and a deer’s face. He called it a… well, he didn’t exactly
know. All he knows is that its name is
Dave, because his name is David. A month
later, John, David’s father was dying from a disease. David had to go to his aunt and uncle’s house
who were very kind to him. They even let
his bring his father’s blacksmith machinery and all the blacksmith stuff his
father and he made. All of that stuff
was put in the basement of David’s aunt and uncle’s house. “Hmm, what do you want to name the mythical
animal I made Auntie Sophie?” asked David, who still couldn’t find his favorite
mythical animals name for his kind. “Oh,
don’t ask me. I am terrible with
names. Ask your uncle.” said Auntie
Sophie, who was busily scrubbing back and forth at a plate. David wandered over to his uncle, named
Timothy. “Uncle Timothy? What should I name my kind for my favorite
mythical creature?” asked David. “I am
terrible with names. Ask your aunt.” said Uncle Timothy. “That’s exactly what auntie said…” said David
frowning. “You guys must be busy. I will be in my room reading.” said David, who was disappointed that he
couldn’t find a name for his favorite kind of mythical animal. David shut his door quietly and left his aunt
and uncle alone.
